Gary Wörtz, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Commonwealth Eye Surgery in Lexington, KY and is among the busiest cataract and refractive surgeons in the United States. He is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at his alma mater, the University of Kentucky, where he lectures and instructs residents on refractive surgery techniques. Beyond being a surgeon, consultant and educator, Dr. Wörtz is a successful inventor and entrepreneur. Ten years ago, he founded Omega Ophthalmics with the mission of developing a new inraocular implant platform. He has been granted 50 patents in the US and internationally. He also co-founded Arcuate Innovations, which provides evidence-based guidance for the surgical correction of astigmatism to ophthalmologists around the world.
Dr. Wörtz has been the principal investigator on numerous FDA trials leading to the approval of new drugs in the ophthalmic space. Additionally, he shares his insights and opinions through his podcast, Ophthalmology Off the Grid, which has received over 100,000 downloads over its 100 + episodes. He frequently lectures at major ophthalmology meetings and is passionate about driving the profession forward through innovative research and publications.

All staff were well trained and helpful. Phone Text updates were plentiful and informative. Facility was very clean and organized. The only negative was the wait time in the waiting room. Although the overall time at the facility was as advertised, a 1 hour+ chunk of time in the waiting room is still a lot.
