I only remember a few things about kindergarten: playing handball during recess, watching Matilda eat paste, and learning the golden rule. The simple maxim of Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, which I learned when I was 5 years old, applies perfectly to the practice of medicine. The golden rule is the cornerstone of my practice and I have found success and satisfaction in applying it to the treatment of my patients.
